ALERT:

Be aware of your surroundings, look for exits in case of an emergency, become a people watcher, learn to read body language. 90% of self-protection is about self-awareness. Before a situation presents its self-think about what you might do to protect yourself or your children. If you are face with a situation DON’T PANIC, quickly analyze the situation and move.

ALERT CONDITIONS

Condition White:
This is the baseline in America.
• Unaware, “tuned out” – listening to music, texting, talking on a cell phone, – they don’t see danger coming
Condition Yellow:
• People watching – in a relaxed state being aware of your surroundings.
• Identifying exits, possible weapons this condition allows you to be proactive. this condition is not being on edge or having a hair trigger but allows you to execute a plan of action prior to a situation.
Condition Orange
• It is what happens when something has made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. – it could be something that your subconscious mind has picked up that your conscious mind hasn’t. This is the time for flight, get out of there if possible.
Condition Red:
• When something has triggered you and you have gone from orange to red, – running or giving in are not options, – you move into condition red, which is the fight

Avoidance:

• Avoid dangerous situations, areas, & people
• Use your voice if confronted
• Keep your distance
• Keep your eyes on him at all times
• Make sure he knows you see him and can identify him
• Snap shot – how tall is he- color eyes, clothing – jewelry
• Keep your head up
• Don’t shuffle your feet or use a “lazy” walk. Pick up your feet and move like you know where you are going, and that you have a purpose in going there
Confidence is projected through your body language, and how you verbally deal your attacker
• Use physical force and commit to what you are about to do, your life might depend on it

ATTACKS:

  • 80% of assaults are blitz attacks, from the rear or blindside
  • 10% of assaults are frontal – the predator wants to see the fear on your face
  • 10% of assaults are lures, they lure you into a false sense of security or just close enough to physically overtake you, and remove you to the secondary location

5 Common Places where Women are Attacked or Abducted from

  1. Grocery Store Parking Lots – ask for assistance with your groceries if alone or late at night
  2. Office Parking lots/ Garages – ask for security escort, a vast majority will be happy to do so
  3. Stairwells – Go in groups or ask for an escort
  4. Public Restrooms – Don’t go alone if possible
  5. Rest Stops – Stop at gas station instead of rest stops

ALWAYS:

TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS! BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS, If you see any odd behavior, PAY ATTENTION. Feel Like Your Being Followed? There is a good chance you are.
If someone is following behind you on a street or in a garage or with you in an elevator or stairwell, look him in the face and ask him a question, like “What time is it?” or make general small talk. Now that you’ve seen his face and could identify him in a line-up, you lose appeal as a target.

Anchor Down:

If he grabs you by the arm, grab him back and drop to his legs and wrap your legs around his leg (just one of his legs and sit criss cross, hold on as tight as you can) pull your head on the inside of his thigh, you can then bite and do an upward groin strike.

We would like to say our passion or mission. However, we know there are other companies, groups and organizations that share our passion and mission for ending human, sex trafficking and violent assaults. What truly sets us apart is HOW we plan to do that. Our systems have been developed based on the specific information gathered during our interviews and case studies of predatory methods. In addition to education and awareness, we seek to prevent assaults before they occur.

Our Prevention Education “Inside the Mind of a Predator” series is a high-impact training that provides solutions for two major issues; the lack of in-depth education into the mindset and methods of sexual predators, and identifying their manipulation, luring, and coercion tactics.

In order to provide an effective form of self-defense, we first had to understand the methods of predators, who they are, how they manipulate, groom, lure, coerce, assault, and or abduct.

After extensive research including the interviews, IDTS found concrete evidence that predators use specific methods to gain access to their victims based on motive. They also used specific control points and carry methods to assault and or abduct their victim; even more interesting is the fact that their methods did not vary, the methods were the same across the board.

The predator interviews also disclosed that rapists and abductors were waiting for a woman or child to use a technique used in traditional self-defense, stating that they knew the techniques that would be used against them, including the eye gauge, foot stomp, groin kick, etc… and that they knew how to control the victims who were using these techniques, rendering those who used traditional self-defense, basic rape defense techniques mostly unable to effectively defend themselves in a brutal and chaotic attack.

Interviews of convicted rapists found that lack of resistance from the victim became consent in the mind of the rapist and the lack of self-defense from the victim encouraged the rapist. The interviews also revealed consistently that resistance to sexual assault is much more effective than passive response, such as crying and pleading which may even encourage the attacker as they feel empowered. Sex is NOT the main motive for rape. It is, the way for a rapist to release anger and power.

Our Anti-Assault Training is a non-traditional full contact system that has been formulated with specific core techniques that have been tested and proven effective to break the abduction & assault methods of predators and stops the predator from completing the attack and or removing the victim to a secondary location.

Each system is broken into phases to ensure proper understanding and implementation of the techniques, and are taught in real-life assault & abduction scenarios that break the assault & abduction patterns of the predator allowing the victim to defend themselves in a brutal assault.

Debunking Self Defense Product Myths

There are many self-defense products on the market today, such as pepper sprays & stun guns. Today we are going to be debunking some myths around the effectiveness of some of these products by discussing their ineffectiveness.

Myth: Pepper Spray is the best cost effective self defense tool.

Facts: Pepper Sprays have expiration dates so you will have to re-purchase or risk the spray no longer being effective at all. They also cost around the same or more in most cases compared to the Punisher Self Defense Glove. In addition, below are 3 reasons they are ineffective as a product.

Three reasons why pepper spray is ineffective:

  1. Most women carry them in their purses or on their keychain, so they are inaccessible during an attack.
  2. The Pepper spray case must be unsnapped and the canister must be in the unlocked position before the potential victim can use the pepper spray.
  3. The pepper spray may incapacitate the victim instead of the predator if there is any type of wind or even a slight breeze as the pepper spray will come back on them.

Myth: Stun Guns or Tasers are the quickest way to stop an attack, that’s why even cops use them.

Facts: In many cases, stun guns or tasers do not have enough power to actually stop an attack which is why police use them as a non lethal option only but require other, more deadly options such as a real gun. They also have to be applied to skin so something as simple as a thick jacket could stop these. In addition, below are 5 more reasons they are ineffective as a whole.

Five reasons why stun guns are ineffective:

  1. Your assailant is on drugs or is drunk, which is very common.
  2. It MUST be applied to the nerve centers on the body located on
    the “upper hip area, below the rib cage or the upper shoulders” which is extremely hard to do during an assault.
  3. Needs to be applied for a minimum of 3 to 5 seconds. That doesn’t sound like long but when you’re in a life or death situation, a few seconds is an eternity.
  4. The batteries are dead or the device hasn’t been charged.
  5. Product defect. It may sound simple but the reality is, products fail and those failures can occur at any moment. It would be tragic for one of these failures to occur right when your life depends on it.

Guns

Myth: A gun (firearm) has almost no down sides and are hands down the most effective means of self defense.

Facts: Don’t get us wrong, carrying a gun is great for some types of protection. IDTS itself has encouraged, hosted and will continue to host firearm courses for women. For instance if you can see the assailant coming at you, or in a carjacking attempt, or a home invasion etc. However a gun is ineffective if you are assaulted from the rear like if you are jogging or walking to your car.

According to research 80% of assaults against women are blitz attacks, victims are approached from the rear and the victims are taken to the ground, 10% are approached from the front and 10% are lured into dangerous situations. From this, we can reasonably assume you won’t have enough time to react and draw your firearm in many cases when women are being attacked.

Our Conclusion:

There are multiple real options for self defense but being honest about their advantages and disadvantages in real life scenarios is crucial. Applying Situational Awareness is simple, in real-world, scenarios like being able to make adjustments to what you are doing, like changing your body language, behavior, or location, to be safe.

Color Codes are a great way to remember levels of Situational Awareness. Here are the Alert Conditions:
